Ritrama SpA, leading Italian manufacturer of self-adhesive materials with 23 production facilities worldwide, was present at the ceremony "Best Packaging 2016", which took place at the headquarters of Corriere della Sera, one of the most important daily newspaper in Italy. SmileSys – a leading Italian manufacturer and distributor of resealable label systems for flexible packaging – was awarded the first prize in the category "Over All" for their product "Top Smile Lite", a special 100% PET recyclable and resealable film, which was supplied by Ritrama.
Top Smile Lite consists of two layers of polyester film which separate on opening the packaging. The bottom layer of the film remains attached to the clamshell serving as inner lining to avoid any leakage when the product is unpacked. The ergonomic design of the tab allows for easy removal of the top layer. A special adhesive approved for food contact enables the tab to be opened and resealed numerous times and therefore keeps the food fresher for longer.
This innovative award winning solution has been achieved through the close cooperation between the Veneto based company SmileSys and Ritrama: Ritrama’s extensive experience with self-adhesive materials allowed for combining the best qualities of a PET film and its adhesive for technical applications while offering a sustainable solution due to the film’s low thickness and recyclability.
