The first order for POLAR in 2025 came from Italy
The Hunkeler Innovationdays (HID) 2025, held from February 24–27 in Lucerne, Switzerland, was a landmark event for the printing industry. It marked the second official joint trade show for the Postpress Alliance following drupa 2024. Founded in 2019, the Postpress Alliance is a collaborative initiative between MBO and H+H, joined by other key players in the postpress sector, including Hohner, BOGRAMA, baumannperfecta, and Wohlenberg.
Muller Martini demonstrated its innovative strength at the Hunkeler Innovationdays 2025, which took place in Lucerne from February 24 to 27. The three smart factory solutions presented are revolutionizing production processes in the digital printing industry for the long term.
POLAR takes automated cutting program creation to a new level
At the Hunkeler Innovationdays taking place in Lucerne, Müller Martini and Hunkeler will showcase a complex all-in-one system for softcover products from the printing press to the trimming robot with a downstream sorting line following the motto, “From the white roll to the finished book.” With the production of eight different books in the 3-up-rolls and 2-up-rolls process, the automated switching of book formats and cut-off lengths will be demonstrated live.
At the Hunkeler Innovationdays in Lucerne, Heidelberg, Müller Martini and Hunkeler will present an all-in-one inline system from the sheet-fed press, to the sheetfolder, perfect binder, drying path and trimming robot, all the way to the sorting line as a world premiere. With the production of three different books, the live automated switching of formats and page numbers, that is book thicknesses, will be demonstrated according to the motto “Inline from the white signature to the finished softcover book.”
In addition to two softcover production systems, at the Hunkeler Innovationdays in Lucerne, Hunkeler, Heidelberg and Müller Martini will present a unique all-in-one solution for digital saddle stitching according to the motto “A broad spectrum of different applications from the printed roll to stitched product.” Several jobs with different content and variable thicknesses will be produced very efficiently from a printed roll – from a small run to individualized one-up products. The three partnering companies will be demonstrating their unique workflow expertise – in line with the maxim “PDF in – magazine out.”
In both the two softcover production lines and the all-in-one solution for digital saddle stitching, which Müller Martini and Hunkeler will demonstrate live at the Hunkeler Innovationdays in Lucerne, the Connex workflow system from Müller Martini ensures smooth workflows and a significant reduction in manual interventions.
