Lessebo Paper

Lessebo Paper is seeing increasing interest in its environmentally friendly papers. The company is one of the oldest paper manufacturers in Sweden and produces innovative premium graphic papers. Despite a slight decline in the paper market due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company's machines have been working at full capacity for several months. There are no delivery problems. The company attributes this positive development to its sustainability concept.

Lessebo Paper, which has been producing paper since 1693 and is thus one of the oldest paper manufacturers in Sweden, is pleased about a steady flow of orders despite COVID-19: "The pandemic has given us a better understanding of the complex interrelationships between the environment, our social systems and our health. Our customers recognise and benefit from this," says Ebba Ingvarsson, Communication Manager at Lessebo Paper, explaining the interest. The company's customers include printers, designers, book publishers and the paper and board converting industry in general.
Lessebo Paper is committed to developing high-performance and environmentally friendly paper and board grades for the international market. The manufacturer focuses on graphic paper qualities: From recycled paper and coloured qualities to cardboard qualities for the packaging industry, Lessebo Paper offers premium products for a wide range of applications. The emissions of Lessebo Paper are more than 96 percent below those of an average graphic paper manufacturer. Lessebo Paper obtains its resources from local raw material suppliers - a strategy that contributes significantly to low CO2 emissions and environmentally friendly management methods.
Ingvarsson explains: "Sustainability is very important to us. And thanks to our deep-rooted passion for environmentally friendly production, we have become the clear choice for sustainable graphic paper. Our latest figure of 22 kg carbon dioxide per tonne of paper produced is a symbol of our hard work and investments. By comparison, the average European graphic paper manufacturer emits 616kg of CO2 per tonne of finished paper. And by sourcing locally, our customers not only receive paper produced by Lessebo Paper, but also paper qualities made from the wood that grows around Lessebo".
Tom Olander, one of the owners of Lessebo Paper, is also positive about the current order situation: "The pandemic has contributed to a decline in the market. However, at Lessebo Paper the machines have been running at full capacity for several months now due to a steady flow of orders. Of course, due to the current situation, we have focused particularly on ensuring the safety of our employees and business continuity in recent months, and are working in compliance with all the necessary protective measures. However, we believe that with the current order situation we can look to the future with confidence".
