The New York Times (NYT) has engaged Goss’ Engineering Solutions group for a major controls upgrade project on their five Goss Colorliner presses and two Colorliner 85 presses in their College Point, NY facility. The project, which includes newly updated control platforms using the latest technology, will remove component obsolescence issues and increase press functionality.

In a digital age, graphic design students continue to trend further away from print. Harper College in Palatine, Illinois is trying to change that mentality by giving their students a truly hands-on curriculum — showing them the many career opportunities in the print industry.

Packing 8-Up Power into a 4-Up Footprint.

Azar Printing purchased the 47th RMGT 9 Series press in the North America, and will be taking delivery of the unit in September immediately after the Print 17 trade show. The new RMGT 920PF-8+CC will replace two 4-Up presses — an older 8-color press, as well as a 6-color with coater press. The new press equipped with RMGT’s fully automatic plate changing, SMART Insta.Color make-ready technology and LED UV Curing for both 4/4 perfecting and LED-UV curable coatings will all represent firsts in the St. Louis marketplace.

Over the last year, India-based printing concern D B Corp Ltd. (Dainik Bhaskar), having dailies in 3 languages, has placed no fewer than five different orders with Q.I. Press Controls - Engineering Automation Electronics (QIPC-EAE). Various printing presses in Aurangabad, Bhopal (two orders), Noida and Shivdaspura have been fitted out with systems from QIPC-EAE, the Dutch specialist in measurement and control equipment. “We’re delighted with the technical support from QIPC-EAE,” was the resounding verdict. “And we’re already looking forward to intensifying our partnership in the future.”

RMGT will be running the award-winning 9 Series perfecting press live on the PRINT 17 show floor Sept. 10-14 at McCormick Place in Chicago. The 9 Series press is the number one 8-up press in North America, and was recognized with a 2017 MUST SEE EMS’ award. With more than 700 installations worldwide, the company has already sold 20 in North America in the first 8 months of 2017. The press running on the show floor has been purchased by Azar Printing, who will take delivery of the press at their facility in St. Louis, Missouri in late September once the show has wrapped.

Berlin is host once again to the annual World Publishing Expo (WPE), which takes place in the German capital from 10 to 12 October this year. The trade fair is the number one show for companies wishing to showcase their written and printed media products and services, both online and offline. Needless to say, Q.I. Press Controls - Engineering Automation Electronics (QIPC-EAE) will have its own stand at the show. Amongst other things, the Dutch specialist in measurement and control systems for the printing industry will be demonstrating EAE’s Desk 7, with integrated controls for QIPC’s IDS-3D system.
