Last week CGS ORIS already released new versions of its proofing and prototyping solutions: Now the updates of the color management applications for four- and multi-color printing are available, too. PRESS MATCHER 4.2 and X GAMUT 4.2 contain a great amount of new and optimized features that make day-to-day work with colors even more comfortable for users.

The so-called Color IDs for spot colors can be created and printed with just a few clicks. The result is an individualized color reference card in A5 format which displays the requested spot color both in full tone and in 10% steps. In practice, binding and secure color communication across the entire supply and production chain leads to maximum predictability of the print results, even more precise color reproduction, easier repeatability and major savings in time and money.
Access to the manufacturer's COLOR CLOUD is recommended for optimal use and an ideal exchange of spot and brand colors. This way, the data can be flexibly managed digitally and analogously - depending on the requirements and customer wishes. Access to the cloud and data exchange between all CGS ORIS applications has been further optimized and enables even more efficient, seamlessly connected work.
In the latest versions, certain color corrections with ICC profiles are tremendously simplified: If the color of a substrate has changed, there is no need to create a new output profile as the white point can be directly adjusted in the profile in an uncomplicated and quick manner.
New Pantone libraries, ICC profiles, reference printer profiles and test charts have been added, too. From now on, these can be provided with a white background over the entire page.
In addition, PRESS MATCHER is equipped with a new profiling engine to generate ICC output profiles. Extra adjustment parameters and graphics complete the feature.
The INK SAVER Premium has also been extended, allowing the selection of primary and secondary full tones to be excluded from the process. This way, an even more specific adjustment is possible and optimized results are achieved.
Besides that, CGS ORIS has further refined the X GAMUT profiler: As a result, ICC profiles are created with even greater accuracy and a new algorithm ensures smoother color gradients.
With version 4.2, the feature for creating a common color space can also be used for printers with an extended color gamut.
In both applications the PDF output is faster and smaller files are generated. In addition, PDFs (as well as other output formats) can also be automatically checked for missing spot colors.
