At drupa 2016 (Messe Düsseldorf, 31 May – 10 June 2016, Hall 8a, Stand B50), Canon Europe – world leader in imaging solutions – is demonstrating how it helps print service providers to unleash the potential of their business, exhibiting innovations from across its comprehensive and expanding portfolio.

Just ten years after entering the production print arena, Canon today is a principal provider of advanced digital solutions to production print businesses, with a market-leading range of high specification sheetfed toner and inkjet presses, continuous feed inkjet presses, and roll-to-roll and flatbed wide format printers, supported by its own and third-party workflow and finishing solutions.

On the Canon stand at drupa 2016, examples from the entire portfolio of Canon production print solutions can be seen, integrated within more than 25 different live production workflows, many involving complex variable data processing and finishing. Visitors can find inspiration for their business among more than 300 individual print applications, vividly illustrating the array of opportunities that exist for printers to diversify and extend their capabilities.

Canon Europe Executive Vice President, Jeppe Frandsen comments, “Since Canon first entered the production print market, we have set out to challenge the sector’s perceptions of what digital technology can do, to inspire printers to push their boundaries and to support them with the technology innovation and expertise to transform their business.

“We have a long-term commitment to the industry and we’ll continue to deliver innovative digital technology to build better business for our customers. Since drupa 2012 we have substantially expanded our portfolio including inkjet and wide format, so that today Canon offers the widest portfolio of solutions in the industry. Here at drupa 2016, we can demonstrate that digital print is a viable option for almost every application, right across the quality spectrum and for a wide range of media.”

Technology innovation
Canon’s sustained R&D investment is evident right across the stand, with a line-up of next-generation products in all areas of the portfolio. Each new Canon product introduced at drupa 2016 reflects the company’s focus on supporting PSPs by delivering optimal quality, improved media versatility and increased productivity.

The key product innovation highlights from Canon are:

The global launch of the Océ ColorStream 6000 Chroma continuous inkjet press, featuring new Chromera inks, extending the press’s capabilities towards high quality graphic arts applications;
The global launch of the Canon imagePRESS C8000VP, following the successful introduction in Autumn 2015 of the flagship imagePRESS C10000VP model, offering the highest toner productivity across a wide range of media;
The global launch of the new ColorGrip option and new inks for the Océ VarioPrint i300 cutsheet inkjet press, enabling high quality colour reproduction on standard offset coated media;
The global launch of the Océ Arizona 2200 Series of flatbed wide format printers, together with the recently launched Océ Arizona 1200 Series, and the Océ ColorWave 910;
The first showing at a public exhibition of the Océ ImageStream 2400 continuous feed inkjet press, optimised for printing on standard offset media – launched February 2015

Reflecting Canon’s expanding 3D print offering, several systems will be demonstrated, working with the Materialise Magics workflow software following Canon’s recently announced partnership with Materialise.

Visitors to drupa 2016 will also have the first chance to see live presentations of Canon’s Prototype Next Generation Production Inkjet Photo Press – named Voyager. Still in development, this B2+ press has the potential to set a new benchmark for photo quality inkjet output.

Business Transformation
For ease of navigation for visitors, the Canon stand is divided into seven clearly marked zones, reflecting Canon customers’ businesses: commercial print; business communications, including transactional and direct mail; publishing, including books, magazines and newspapers; advertising and creative; functional/industrial, including 3D printing; packaging; and photographic products.

Each of the seven zones on the stand features a series of live workflows, showing how Canon – through its close and long-term partnership with print service providers – can support the development of innovative business models that help them to meet the changing needs of their customers.

Canon’s ethos of supporting customers with tailored end-to-end solutions to deliver high quality finished products is in evidence in all seven zones, with a wide range of workflow solutions, media handling and finishing equipment from more than 20 technology partners.

New partnerships with Plockmatic and BDT are also being announced at drupa 2016, with solutions from both companies being demonstrated in conjunction with Canon imagePRESS colour production presses on the Canon stand.

The Solutions and Consulting Hub at the centre of the stand provides insights into the depth of Canon’s technical expertise and solutions offering, including workflow, colour management and business development tools.

#UNLEASHPRINT
The #UNLEASHPRINT hashtag and colourful campaign graphics feature prominently on the Canon stand at drupa 2016 and all around Messe Düsseldorf, launching an extended campaign that encourages printers to adapt to seize new opportunities.

Jeppe Frandsen concludes: “Here at drupa 2016, we’re showing PSPs that, to truly ‘unleash print’, they need to match technology innovation with a commitment to transforming business models and inspiring customers with creative and even disruptive ideas. We believe that the key to success is to surround yourself with dependable and like-minded partners and Canon aims to be the partner of choice for every print business, helping them to reimagine and realise their full potential.”
