In 2008, Polestar’s business-critical mail division, Polestar Applied Solutions, wanted to take the next step in optimised print and evolve into an end-to-end communications partner for its customers. It installed the UK’s first Océ JetStream 2200, using PRISMAproduction software as the cornerstone of its new production environment, which has transformed the former mailing house into a market leader in full-colour transactional, regulatory and business critical mail services.

Service Point Holmbergs, recently acquired by the Paragon group, is one of the largest print houses in Malmö with more than 100 years of experience. Established in 1904, Holmbergs has four main production/service facilities for the complete provision and management of branding, digital production, campaign solutions and bespoke point-of-sale for major retailers and corporate clients.

Commercial printer Trykkpartner – based in Trondheim in Norway – was founded in 1992 with the production of diary and personal organiser applications at the core of its business. The company has a rich heritage in offset printing, but was also an early adopter of digital printing technology, having established its own division – Digital Partner – in 2000.

As soon as new CEO Krister Mellström walked through the doors at EO Grafiska in 2010, he realised he had his work cut out. The Swedish company, an offset commercial print service provider, was struggling financially because of its outdated traditional print business model and a lacklustre digital printing infrastructure.

From laminates, glass and wood for interior décor applications through to membrane switch overlays and printed electronics for applications in manufacturing, industrial printing applications are increasingly being printed digitally. 3D printing is also growing in popularity for use in supporting design and prototyping, as well as creating concept models.

Canon Europe, world leader in imaging solutions, is partnering with German media handling specialists BDT Print Media GmbH to develop an integrated solution enabling users of Canon’s flagship imagePRESS C10000VP and C8000VP production colour presses to produce banner format applications at high volumes.
