Trib Total Media have selected Harland Simon to replace the aging and obsolete Allen-Bradley 1336 a.c. lineshaft drives on their Goss Newsliner Press at The Tribune Review.

This follows the successful upgrade of the Meridian/Echelon controls on the same press in 2015.

Harland Simon’s Managing Director – Americas, John Staiano commented, "Once again, it’s very rewarding to know that Trib Total Media continue to place their trust in us to ensure their demanding production needs can be met.”

The new project includes the replacement of five 250HP 1336 drives with Allen-Bradley’s latest generation - PowerFlex 755 250HP a.c. drive modules. The upgrade is designed to eliminate obsolete and unsupported components as well as safeguard against lineshaft drive failures which have affected production and have led to the need to run the press at slower speeds.

The new drives will be integrated with the Drive Master ControlLogix PLC, which was upgraded with the previous Meridian/Echelon upgrade. The Drive Master upgrade provided stability from the original PLC/5 while still maintaining control and master selectability over the then existing 1336 drives.

Thanks to Harland Simon’s extensive upgrade expertise, the installation will be carried out without interrupting production. Harland Simon’s suite of diagnostic tools and the comprehensive AB RSLogix 5000 package will ensure that performance of the new drives is continually monitored so that, should any issues occur in future, they can be rapidly resolved.
