Canon unveils the Canon ColorStream 8000 series: an addition to Canon's market-leading ColorStream family, the new flagship reaches the next level of development. The system sets a new standard for high-volume production printing with its combined advances in productivity, print quality and application flexibility.

The Canon ColorStream 8000 series is based on a decade of continuous innovation in response to customer feedback. It is designed to meet the future production needs of in-house printers, print and communication service providers (transactional and direct mail), specialist suppliers and print service providers for books, manuals or pharmaceutical package inserts. The advanced technology that takes the Canon ColorStream to new levels of quality, efficiency and productivity offers users the ability to produce more in less time, expand their range of applications, enter new markets and increase their profit margins.
Taking productivity to the next level
The Canon ColorStream 8000 series consists of two models - the Canon ColorStream 8133 and the Canon ColorStream 8160, each achieving maximum print speeds of 133m/min and 160m/min respectively. The ColorStream 8000 series can produce up to 2,152 A4 pages/min and is designed for print volumes of 15 - 70 million A4 pages per month. This facilitates the handling of production peaks and offers the opportunity to reduce operating and labour costs by handling print volumes from offset and toner-based printers on the Canon ColorStream. The productivity of the series is further enhanced by a higher level of automation, including simplified operation.
Many automated operations contribute to an exceptional productivity of over 90 per cent. The proactive service concept offers additional security in production planning. Predictive maintenance enables targeted service calls, largely avoiding unforeseen downtime during production.
Taking print quality to the next level
The Canon range features new 1,200 dpi printheads that deliver impressive and consistent print quality from the first print to the last, even at the fastest speeds. This means smooth colour gradients, homogeneous areas and sharp details. The Canon ColorStream 8000 series is based on a new water-based pigment ink set with latex polymer - for precise droplet formation and wide colour gamut coverage. The Fogra process standard is achieved, both a deep black and vivid colours - and on uncoated papers without special pre-treatment.
Taking flexibility to the next level
In a fast-moving market, finding new applications can be crucial to staying competitive. Thanks to the Canon ColorStream 8000 series' enhanced print quality and optimal media transport, it can print on a wide range of uncoated, recycled and inkjet-optimised papers from 40 gsm to 160 gsm (and selected papers up to 220 gsm). Print service providers cater to such demands of today's market: in addition to high-quality advertising prints, jobs are produced for direct mail as well as transactional, and book applications (mono and full colour). With a maximum print width of 560 mm, oversized advertising posters and larger book formats can be realised.
The first customer for the Canon ColorStream 8000 series is DATEV from Nuremberg. DATEV is the third largest provider of software solutions for businesses in Germany and one of the largest European IT service providers. The cooperative of tax consultants supports a total of 2.5 million companies, self-employed persons, municipalities, associations and institutions and, as a full-service provider, manages the complete creation of customer business documents. With a high-performance, modern and highly secure Digital & Print Solution Centre (DPSC) in Nuremberg, it produces an average of more than 1.1 billion pages per year, from advertising and information mailings to invoices and reminders to account statements and high-value insurance policies.
