Kyocera Document Solutions Deutschland GmbH defies the crisis and records double-digit growth in market share. During the two-month lock-down, the Meerbusch-based document management experts were able to reap the rewards of forward-looking investments in IT infrastructure and mobile working concepts and switch to decentralised working without any loss of productivity. Nevertheless, the German headquarters reopened in mid-May and customer appointments were already being attended by the field service.

"Distance rules, intensive disinfection measures and the responsible behaviour of the employees have shown that we can do our job with the necessary caution even in the crisis and move forward together with our partners," says Managing Director Dietmar Nick, who had checked the feasibility of business trips and customer appointments in a self-experiment before giving the green light for the return to regular operations.
With success: According to figures from the IDC market research institute, Kyocera grew by 32.5% in the second quarter and was thus able to almost double its market share to now 16% behind HP and Brother.
"Not surprisingly, the A4 segment has grown the most due to corona-related demand for home office equipment", says Senior Sales Director Stephen Schienbein. "We have established ourselves at the top of the colour systems market with growth rates of almost 70% for MFPs and 40% for printers. The A3 segment has of course left feathers in our cap, but Kyocera systems are still the best-selling products in every category".
"Apparently, customers have welcomed our early return as much as our specialist dealers," suspects Nick, referring to the philosophy of company founder and Kyoto Prize founder Kazuo Inamori when asked what made him act so fearlessly in the crisis: "If you want eggs, take care of the hen.
