KBR Graphics, the exclusive distributor of RMGT offset presses in Canada, proudly announces that it has installed a new RMGT 9 series 6 color LED-UV 8-up press at Imprimerie Maxime. Located in the heart of Montreal, Imprimerie Maxime has seen changes and has grown over the past 30 years to become an established and valued full-service shop. Their equipment lineup includes a complete prepress division, offset, digital and large format printing presses, as well a wide range of print finishing solutions for lamination, perforation, numbering, folding, scoring, stitching and more. In addition, Imprimerie Maxime’s Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification is a testament to their commitment towards strict environmental and social standards.

Imprimerie Maxime’s continuous pursuit to improve performance, boost client offerings while reducing overall costs, lead them to invest in the 25’’ x 37’’ RMGT 9 series press, which was installed in December 2018. Forward-thinking, André Paiement, President of Imprimerie Maxime and his team set out to find ways to optimize their offset printing operation in order to be able to increase performance. With the installation of their new RMGT 9 series press, they are now able to triple their output. Mr. Paiement stated that “with LED technology and the multiple automation capabilities built-into the RMGT 9 press, it is finally possible to produce jobs rapidly. It exceeds all of our requirements and expectations in terms of productivity and reliability.”
The new RMGT 9 series press replaced Imprimerie Maxime’s older 20.5” X 29” press and now allows them to produce a larger 8-up, 16-page signature print forms, while improving print quality through LED-UV curing and Insta.Color makeready technology. Since they offer customers both offset and digital printing, they understand that the key to higher productivity for diverse short-run printing is shorter make-ready times. Six months following the installation of their RMGT 9 series press, they are running higher quality jobs quicker and more efficiently. They have seen a significant boost in productivity, flexibility and quality. Since set-ups are much quicker, switching from job to job is a cinch. “We have even started to move some of our digital work back to offset, and our clients are very pleased,” added Mr. Paiement.
RMGT: Environmentally responsible systems
“The new LED-UV press’s green technology is a major addition to our business," continues Mr. Paiement. "Being able to take sheets off the press and move straight to finishing is impressive and something I was only able to do with digital in the past. LED-UV curing is also particularly important to us, especially because of its ecological aspects, with vegetable LED inks and significant energy reduction. We carry out work that would have been impossible to produce before, so this piece of equipment exactly meets our requirements and goes beyond our expectations."
LED-UV technology allows Imprimerie Maxime to now print on virtually any stock and increase print quality by instantly curing ink on the sheets even at full-speeds. Given that the ink is not absorbed into the sheet, LED-UV curing produces a significantly sharper image with exceptional ink vibrancy especially on uncoated stocks. The instantly cured ink also provides much quicker turnaround times, especially since there’s no waiting between running a second pass or moving a job to bindery. Is also offers a cleaner and safer workplace with its ability to print without heat, odor, powder spray or volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Smooth press installation
The press was acquired and installed through KBR Graphics, the exclusive Canadian distributor of RMGT presses. In the past decade, KBR Graphics has seen a significant increase in RMGT offset press sales in Canada. In 2018, KBR has installed three systems in the province Quebec alone. Karl Belafi Jr., Vice-President at KBR Graphics stated that “the installation process at Imprimerie Maxime went smoothly and efficiently. The KBR technical team installed the system and started running sellable sheets in as little as two weeks. Today, six months following the installation, Imprimerie Maxime is going strong and running more work than they could on their previous equipment.”
