Torque limiting clutches are used in almost all areas of technology, wherever torque limitation is required in automatic systems and machines in order to protect machines or products from overload.

The ECA torque limiting clutch specially developed for toothed belt drives prevents such overload damage or at least reduces it to a minimum.
Special emphasis was placed on a positive and fast switching function. Simple, lightweight elements prevent disadvantageous mass or switching inertia. These were chosen because too heavy shifting elements could considerably increase the (statically adjusted) disengaging torque in a dynamic collision and thus also destructive collision forces!
In contrast to conventional slipping clutches, the ECA has a high repeatability of the set overload torque. It is backlash-free and re-engages automatically after one revolution (fixed point engagement). The switching movement can be sensed by a proximity switch. 17 sizes result in an adjustment range from 0.5 to 470Nm in total.
The ECA forms a compact unit with the toothed belt pulley, which requires hardly any additional space and is available in different versions.
Particularly noteworthy in this series is the type ECA 1, as it is probably one of the smallest torque limiting clutches available on the market.
